Ebac History
British-based Ebac, was founded in 1973 by John Elliott MBE after a chance meeting in a hotel bar. John got talking with a man who was explaining how difficult it was to find a good industrial dehumidifier made for the European climate. Ever up for a challenge, John suggested that he could design and manufacture a dehumidifier that was suited to the EU climate - so he did - and Ebac was born.
Ebac began with John Elliott and some family members working out of a disused chicken shed in Bishop Auckland - after successfully designing and manufacturing his first industrial dehumidifier, he soon found that he had another order, and another - word quickly spread about how good the dehumidifiers were, and John soon realised that Ebac was becoming a great success.

"The early days were tough, it was really only just me and a few family members and friends who would help out. Everyone helped out with everything, it was a really team effort and as we kept getting more and more orders, I realised that we were becoming more and more successful"
During the 80's Ebac continued to grow despite tough economic conditions. Ebac entered the domestic dehumidifier market and quickly established a dominant market share and Ebac products were found in all the major High Street retailers.

"We found that as our Dehumidifiers were built specifically for the UK climate, they were much more effective that competitor models, who would import cheap units from Asia which has not been designed for use in Europe"
In the early 1990s Ebac made its second major business venture and entered into the Watercooler manufacturing industry. At a time when concerns about bacteria and water contamination was high, Ebac developed a ground breaking method of watercooler sanitisation - the WaterTrail™ - that changed the face of the watercooler market in Europe and quickly established Ebac as the leading force in the Watercooler industry.
In 2004 Ebac began to look at the Refrigeration market as another possible area of expansion, and after years of in-depth market research and product development, they launched their new range of Fridges and Freezers to an extremely positive reception in 2008.
